Welcome Jermain Pipkins, LAVC's New Dean of Academic Affairs

Jermain Pipkins will be joining the LAVC Office of Academic Affairs as its newest Dean on August 15. He will responsible for curriculum and catalog production for the college, and will be working directly with the college's Communications, Athletics, Kinesiology, English, ESL, Foreign Language, Counseling, Music, and Theater Arts departments. Welcome, Jermain!

Welcome Jermain Pipkins, LAVC's New Dean of Academic Affairs

The LAVC Office of Academic Affairs announced that Jermain Pipkins will serve as its new Dean of Languages and Performing Arts. He will officially begin on Monday, August 15. 

In addition to acting as the college’s curriculum and catalog dean, Jermain will be working directly with the Communications, Athletics, Kinesiology, English, English as a Second Language (ESL), Foreign Language, Counseling, Music and Theater departments.

Jermain has more than thirteen years of experience in higher education. Prior to joining LAVC, he served as the dean of students for Reedley College in located in central California, where he was responsible for overseeing counseling instructional courses, dual enrollment, assessment, CalWORKs, EOPS, articulation, student conduct, and other programs. His previous positions include being a faculty member and associate dean for student success at El Centro College in Dallas, Texas.

Within administrative leadership, Jermain has led efforts in enrollment management, student learning outcomes, retention, curriculum, and many other student success initiatives. He also serves as a faculty member for the Global Community for Academic Advising (NACADA) Summer Institutes.

He received his associate's degree from the Dallas County Community College District, and his bachelor's degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Texas at Arlington. Jermain also holds a Master of Science in Education degree with a specialization in leadership for higher education.
