LAVC President Endrijonas Named Pioneer Woman of the Year

The Commission on the Status of Women and the Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Krekorian, Council District 2, honored LAVC President Dr. Erika Endrijonas with LA City Council District's "2017 Pioneer Woman of the Year" on Friday, March 31 in downtown Los Angeles.

By naming her "Pioneer Woman of the Year", LA Council District 2 recognized Dr. Endrijonas for being a leader who champions gender equity in the city of Los Angeles.

She is president of Los Angeles Valley College, which is one of the largest of the nine campus in the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD), since August 2014. During her tenure, she achieved a balanced budget, overseen the $626 million campus revitalization plan and found a home for Kent Twitchell's iconic mural "The Old Woman of the Freeway" (or "Freeway Lady").

Dr. Endrijonas is also the first out lesbian president in the history of the LACCD, and the founding member of the national organization of LGTBQ Presidents in Higher Education.

Congratulations to Dr. Endrijonas on this recognition of your leadership and service to the community.
