LAVC Family Resource Center Staff to Present at the Aspen Institute's 2Gen Practice Institute

LAVC Family Resource Center Director Marni Roosevelt, LAVC Dean of Adult/Continuing Education Dr. Doug Marriott, and LAVC Family Resource Center Program Coordinator Amber Angel will speak at the "Staying the Course—Exploring Parent Retention and Completion" panel discussion at the Ascend at the Aspen Institute's 2Gen Practice Institute on April 27 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Ascend at the Aspen Institute (Ascend) has invited Marni Roosevelt, director of LAVC Family Resource Center, Dr. Doug Marriott, dean of Adult/Continuing Education and Workforce Development at LAVC, and Amber Angel, program coordinator at the LAVC Family Resource Center, to present at Ascend's 2Gen Practice Institute from April 24-27 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Their presentation, which is part of the "Staying the Course—Exploring Parent Retention and Completion" panel discussion on Thursday, April 27, is focused on "Exploring Parent Retention and Completion in Workforce Training and Higher Education" by identifying effective strategies to ensure parents complete postsecondary and/or workforce training by removing barriers through holistic family support. 

Ascend at the Aspen Institute's 2Gen Practice Institute with CAP Tulsa brings together leading practitioners, researchers, and philanthropists with the goal of understanding, adapting, and implementing best and next practices for 2Gen approaches across a range of platforms, including early childhood care and education sites, postsecondary education, and community action agencies, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

LAVC is a member of the Aspen Institute's Ascend Network. The LAVC Family Resource Center (FRC) provides 2Gen support services to student-parents and their young children, trains the early care and education workforce, and serves Los Angeles Valley College and the surrounding community as an Infant & Toddler Lab Site.
