LACCD to Receive Up to $1.6 Million to Fund Foster Youth Programs at its Colleges

The California Community College Board of Governors has approved $15 million in funding to support the Cooperating Agencies Foster Youth Educational Support (CAFYES) programs at the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) and nine other California community colleges. The LACCD anticipates receiving up to $1.6 million for the nine colleges in the district, including LAVC.

LAVC Math Students to Present at the So Cal Conference for Undergradute Research

LAVC Students Lauren Busby, Arteen Galstyan, Jereme Badger, David Flores, Michael Frawley and Aaron Brown will make a presentation on “Partitioning Exotic Spheres to Examine the Holographic Universe” at the Southern California Conferences for Undergraduate Research (SCCUR) on November 21 at Harvey Mudd College.

Jackie Hams Named LAVC's Distance Education Coordinator

Jacqueline (Jackie) Hams is LAVC's new Distance Education Coordinator. She is responsible for administering Valley College's distance education program, which includes online and hybrid courses, and is a faculty liason for distance education.

LAVC Students Raise Awareness of Metric Day to Students

LAVC physics students celebrate Metric Day with a display outside the Counseling Office. This activity was held to raise awareness about the Metric system, which is used throughout the world, and to encourage people to sign a petition for the United States to move to the metric system.
