Congratulations to LAVC'S ICT & Digital Media-LA Region Deputy Sector Navigator grant for being renewed for 2016-2017 by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office. The grant focuses on curriculum development, revision, and articulation from K-12 to community colleges, and from community colleges to four-year universities for the 18 colleges in the LA region.

Congrats to the LAVC Speech Team for being recognized with a Steve Allen "Excellence in Education" award by the Valley Economic Alliance. The team was honored for its team bronze, and the 3 individual gold, 1 individual silver and 12 individual bronze medals, and the Warren-Dahlin Student Fellowship Award to Maia Gaboian at the 2017 Phi Rho Pi National Speech Competition.

Adjunct instructor Kenneth Feldmeier in the LAVC Anthropology Department shares his perspective on Middle Eastern cuisine in the KCETLink documentary, The Migrant Kitchen, which highlights the diverse ethnic cuisines and immigrants that shape the city of Los Angeles.

The LAVC Administration & Career Advancement building has been awarded a LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. This is the third LEED Gold-certified building at the college.

Adam Brackman, a LAVC Geology/Earth Science major, has been selected to participate in the NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars project (NCAS) and will visit NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory Center in June. Congratulations!

Congrats to Tim Hornyak of Men's Swimming for being named the men's co-swimmer at the WSC Conference Championship; the Men's Swimming team placed third and Women's Swimming moved up to ninth place.

Good luck to the Men's and Women's Swimming as they head to the WSC Conference Championship at Hancock College on April 21-23. Cheer on our Monarchs at home as Softball plays Victor Valley on April 18 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the Softball field, and Baseball plays West LA on April 18 at 2:30 p.m. and Bakersfield on April 20 at 2:30 p.m. in the Baseball field.
