Your dreams and goals are important to us. We’re here to assist you in reaching them.
Ellie has worked with the Los Angeles Valley College CalWORKs program since 1989. She received her M.S. in College Counseling and Guidance from California Lutheran University (CLU) and her M.A. in Public Administration from California State University, Northridge. Now working as a CalWORKs' Director, Ellie is responsible for CalWORKs State, City, and County grants. She works closely with students who have educational, career, and/or domestic violence issues. Ellie is a part-time instructor for Los Angeles Valley College and taught career counseling courses at CLU as well.
Ellie is fluent in Farsi.

Alicen is the CalWORKs Coordinator since 2002, and has been with the CalWORKs program since 1998.
She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development from CSU Northridge and
has completed coursework in Graduate studies for a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology.
As an LAVC Alumni, she believes that education is the most valuable gift that anyone can achieve.
Alicen speaks fluent Thai.

Cynthia has been working at Valley College since 1998.
Currently, she is a CalWORKs Case Manager and Coordinator for the Valley Assessment Center.
Cynthia is on her way to CSU Northridge to pursue her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.
Cynthia is fluent in Spanish

Margie Thomas is the coordinator of the GED Testing Center.
The center provides official GED testing and practice testing.

Kristine Aslanyan, Counselor

Kristine is a GAIN/CalWORKs Program Counsleor and Vocation/Career Assessor.
She received her B.S. degree in Rehabilitation Services and
M.S. in Counseling from California State University, Los Angeles.
She is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and is fluent in Armenian and Russian.

Lynda joined the CalWORKs team since 2007 and has been working at LAVC since 2003.
She started off as a Valley College CalWORKs student. She started her employment with LAVC as a student worker on campus in the
CAOT department. After achieving her AA degree in CAOT, she obtained a full-time position at the college. She loves helping
CalWORKs students because she enjoys the opportunity to give back to a program that has helped her change her life.

Paz Neri has been employed at Los Angeles Valley College CalWORKs/GAIN program since 2004.
She received her Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Paz is the first person to greet students and visitors to the CalWORKs office.

Anna is our student worker. She currently attends LAVC and plans to transfer to UCLA and major in Psychology.
Anna speaks fluent Armenian and is able to assist students and visitors to our office.
