Ellie Rabani, Director

Ellie has worked with the CalWORKs Program at LAVC since 1989.  She is an LAVC alumni. Her educational experience and focus includes M.S. in College Counseling and Guidance from California Lutheran University (CLU) and M.A. in Public Administration from California State University, Northridge. 

Ellie oversees the CalWORKs program, Valley Assessment Center, Specialized Testing Center, and Helping Hands Project. She works closely with domestic violence shelters and many community partners.  Ellie is a part-time instructor for LAVC and taught career counseling courses at Cal Lutheran University. 

She is fluent in Farsi.

Alicen has worked with the CalWORKs Program at LAVC since 1998.  She is an LAVC and CalWORKs alumni. Her educational experience and focus includes a BA Degree in Child Development from CSU Northridge, MA Educational Psychology coursework, and Social Justice.

Alicen coordinates the daily operations of the CalWORKs program and provides specialized support services to students.

She is fluent in Thai.

Edit Kocsis, Counselor

Edit has been with the CalWORKs program since 2016. Her educational  experience includes an MS degree in Counseling from California Lutheran University.

Edit is an academic and career Counselor specializing in students experiencing domectic violence. She is also a Vocational Assesor and Learning Disability Evaluator for DPSS participants.  

She is fluent in Hungarian.

Kristine has been with the CalWORKs program since 2011. Her educational experience includes a BS Degree in Rehabilitation Services and M.S. in Counseling from California State University, Los Angeles. She is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). 

Kristine is an academic and career Counselor and Learning Disability Evaluator for DPSS participants.  She specializes in CalWORKs students experiencing learning disabilities. She is also a consultant for our Vocational Assessment Center.

She is fluent in Armenian and Russian.

Liliana Fanelli, Adjunct Counselor

Liliana has been with LAVC since 1989. She is a proud LAVC Alumni. Her educational experience and focus includes a BA Degree in Liberal Studies from California State University, Northridge and M.S. in Educational Counseling from National University.

Liliana is a Professor of Counseling, General Counselor, CalWORKs Counselor, and Vocational Assessor. She specializes in Counseling services to students experiencing homelessness and CalWORKs Work-Study. 

She is fluent in Spanish.

 

Asya Davtyan, Counselor

Asya has been with LAVC since 2008.  She is a LAVC alumni. Her educational experience and focus includes a BA Degree in Interdisciplinary Linguistics and two minors: TESL and General Sociology and a MS in Educational Counseling from National University. She also holds a TESL certificate.  

Asya is an academic and career Counselor specializing in non-credit to credit students. She is also a learning disability evaluator for DPSS referred students.

She is fluent in Armenian and Russian. 

 

 

Nino Shtromberg, Valley Assessment Center Coordinator

Nino has been with the CalWORKs program since 2016. She is a proud LAVC and CalWORKs alumni. Her educational experience and focus includes an AA degree in Behavioral Science and she is currently pursuing a BA in Computer Science at CSUN.

Nino is a Fiscal Specialist for our LACOE/DPSS contract. She coordinates the daily operations of the Valley Assessment Center.

She is fluent in Georgian, Russian, and Armenian.
