A first team, Western State Conference  selection, Ventura earned a trip to Northern California to play in the  Sophomore Classic, showcasing her talents before moving east to  William Penn University, where the scholarship recipient will  continue her academic and athletic career.

California’s leading scorer in 2015, water polo center, Arman Momdzhyan scored a whopping 114 goals this season, averaging almost five per game. For his efforts, the Western State Conference named him as their player of the year as well as a two-time selection to the all-conference team. Additionally, he’s a two-time all-Southern California athlete, two-time all-American, and the driving force behind the Monarchs’ back to back conference championships.

A Message From the Athletic Director

As we close the 2015/2016 school-year, we want to say “Thank You” to our sophomores for their great efforts in the classroom and on the field of play, and representing Los Angeles Valley College in the valued manner that they did.

Especially, Andreya Ventura, women’s soccer, our female LAVC athlete of the year and Arman Momdzhyan, men’s water polo, the male LAVC athlete of the year, selected by sport team coaches.  We look forward to following their careers in the four-year schools of their choice.

Our football team won the Golden State Bowl, our men’s Water Polo team won the WSC conference for the second year in a row, our women’s Soccer team went to the playoffs for the first time in their history, the women’s basketball team reached the playoffs and our men’s swim team finished 2nd in conference, the highest finish in school history, led by the individual performance of Tim Hornyak, breaking school records in the 200 meter breaststroke and 400 I.M.!

This was truly a great year and it will be celebrated on June 25th, at our 2016 Hall of Fame Induction.  We are inducting the 1994 football team, Dee Stark, Coach and Athletic Director, Dale Beck, Sports Information Director/Announcer, Aaron Flowers, football, Roger Wolff, Track and Field, Leon Criner, Athlete (Posthumous)

Yvette Maufas, Track and Field and Steve Danielson, Swimming.

Please consider joining us in the celebration, on Saturday, June 25th, at 6:00pm in Monarch Hall!  We are also unveiling our new Monarch Athletic Center to our alums and Hall of Famers on that day, with a host, hospitality at 5:00pm at the MAC!

We look forward to our continuing student athletes returning for the 2016/2017 school-year and joining forces with the incoming recruiting class of student athletes, thru the summer workouts!  Go Monarchs!

The Zone"

Our student athletes refer to our new computer lab, as “The Zone”, or the endzone that gets them where they want to go!

The new state of the art, satellite computer lab that was recently completed, within the new Community

Service Building, next to the Monarch Athletic Center. The "Zone" is funded and supported by the Equity Grant on campus.

This facility is available to all student athletes from 9am to 2pm daily! English and Math tutors are provided every Tuesday and Wednesday.  The computer center is the home of our athletic counselor, Reggie Reed (pictured on the right). Reggie is available to meet with all student athletes regarding their counseling needs. Full supervision is provided by John Fonua (pictured on the left).  As the supervising monitor, John collaborates with head coaches of all sports to ensure their teams study hall goals are met.

We are fortunate for the Equity Grant funding and proud of what we have to offer our student athletes to stay committed to their academic goals.
