The Arts at Valley College

The college has longstanding and well-respected programs in Art, Dance, Journalism (photography), Digital Media (cinema, TV & radio broadcasting, & the digital Media Arts Academy), Music, Speech Communication, and Theatre. The college also fields an award winning speech team and publishes the award winning newspaper, the Valley Star, and is home to the Valley Symphony Orchestra.
These programs are enriched by the college's proximity to world-class cultural institutions such as the Getty and the Skirball Center. The college is located in the heart of the entertainment industry, a mere ten-minute drive to Warner Bros., DreamWorks, Universal Studios, Disney, and NBC. Many professionals in entertainment have attended Valley College, including Tom Selleck, Kevin Spacey, Michael Richards, Sean Astin, and Ed Begley, Jr.

The campus holds many cultural programs and events. In the past, the college has hosted performances by Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington. Today the college offers music and theatre productions on six separate stages: Main Stage (300 seats), Horseshoe (100), Shoebox (50), Recital Hall (140), Monarch Hall (600), and the Band Room (50). Performing in these spaces are the Jazz Band, the Guitar Ensemble, the College Choir, the Wind Ensemble, the Chamber Singers, the Valley Symphony Orchestra and the Valley Collegiate Players. The college operates an Art Gallery that exhibits historical, contemporary and student art.
