Dr. Deborah diCesare, Dean of Economic & Workforce Development, leads the planning, development and implementation of a comprehensive educational response to the needs and expectations of business, industry, the community and its organizations.
She is responsible for CalWORKs, Extension, Community Services, Job Training, the Biotechnology Initiative and a host of grant projects. In addition she promotes partnerships with business, industry, labor, community-based organizations and government on behalf of the college. Dr. diCesare monitors and assesses labor market and economic changes in the college service area and initiates, with the help of other college personnel, programs and services that respond to those identified needs.

- U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Hispanic Serving Institutions Assisting Communities, Project Valley Works Partnership, $599,999. Project Director: Bernie Perez-Gilbert.
- U.S. Department of Education, Minority Science & Engineering Improvement Program (MSEIP), Gateway to the Sciences, $58,000. Project Directors: Becky Green-Marroquin and Pamela Byrd-Williams.
- U.S. Department of Education, Funds for Instructional Improvement (FIPSE), STARS, Strategic Team for the Advancement & Retention of Students, $341.555. Project Director: Deborah Harrington.
- Federal Appropriation, Directed Funding, Accelerated Nursing Career Paths, $248,375. Project Director: Judy Holton.
- NASA, Curriculum Improvement Partnership Award Program, Curricula Upgrade and Science Facilities Improvement Project, $300,000. Project Directors: Jacquelyn Hams and David Falk.
- Department of Health Services, County of Los Angeles, Nursing Tutoring and Mentoring Program, $189,963. Project Director: Betty Bjornsen.
- Cedar-Sinai Medical Center, Licensed Vocational Nurse to Registered Nurse Program, $179,159. Project Director: Carole Rosales.
