A
study of medical instrumentation and equipment used in the health care field,
emphasizing critical care applications. The source of bioelectric potentials
and their appearance in the EKG and EEG. Stress testing, blood pressure
and flow and heart sounds. Operating principles of transducers, amplifiers,
patient monitors, or equipment defibrillators and pacers. The theory of
shock hazard and methods of providing for patient and staff safety are emphasized.
