TRiO Computer Loan Program
One of the advantages of being a TRiO student is the ability to obtain a laptop computer for short term use. The TRiO office loans out laptop computers to students for a three day period, so that students don’t have to rely solely on the campus labs. This is an advantage to the student doing research or writing a paper because some students’ schedules conflict with the hours of operation and availability of the campus labs.
The laptop computers that are loaned out to the TRiO students are new and equipped with many software titles. Some of these titles include Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Word 2003, Microsoft Excel, and others. The laptop computers are also wireless ready, meaning that if the student has access to a wireless internet connection (e.g. LAVC offers students the ability to access the internet wirelessly anywhere on campus) they will be able to access any internet based resource.
The TRiO office will also consider the re-issuing of the three day loan for students requesting an extension of the loan period. The re-issuing of laptops depends on the demand and availability of the laptop computers.
To participate in the Computer Loan Program you must be a TRiO student and sign a contract requiring that you will be held accountable for any damage to the laptop.
