The Financial Aid Office staff does not want financial problems to get in the way of your educational goals. We are here to explain the financial aid options that may be available to you. If you need assistance, please do not hesitate to ask. A college education is one of the most important investments you will make for yourself.
This website has been designed to enable you to understand what we have to offer and what you must do to apply and qualify for financial aid at Los Angeles Valley College. We hope that you will take the time to carefully read this information for we have attempted to take the mystery out of financial aid.
Important First Priority Filing Deadline Information
To be considered as a first priority financial aid applicant, you must have a valid processed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) (www.fafsa.ed.gov) by March 2 AND submit all required documents by May 1 to the LAVC Financial Aid Office.
If you miss the first priority deadline, you may still apply for financial aid, but priority funds may no longer be available. Apply as early as possible to maximize your funding opportunities.
California State residents should complete both a FAFSA and submit a Cal Grant Grade Point Average Verification so that they may be considered for the Cal Grant Programs; the Cal Grant deadline is March 2. There is a second Cal Grant deadline of September 2, but funding is more limited.
