Rafael Camacho - Assistant Coach

 

Coach Camacho enters his first season as an assistant coach for the Monarchs’ women’s basketball program.  A native of Puerto Rico, Camacho is enjoying his 25th year in coaching. 

Prior to LAVC, from 2007 to 2009, he was the head girls’ basketball coach at Monrovia High School, where he guided the Wildcats to their first ever semifinal appearance in the 2009 CIF Southern Section playoffs.  In 2004 and 2005 Coach Camacho assisted with the boys’ varsity program at Renaissance Academy, where they reached the CIF Southern Section Finals as well as the CIF State Semifinals in 2005.  Earlier in his career, while working as an assistant coach, he also helped guide the John Muir High School (Pasadena) girls’ varsity basketball team to the 1990 CIF Southern Section Division III title and the State Championship game.

Beside his work at Valley College, Coach Camacho is an entrepreneur who owns and operates two separate businesses - R U Game? Enterprises, designing custom made uniforms and apparel, and All Out Basketball, working as private basketball trainer.

A product of Pasadena City College, Camacho graduated (1993) with his Associate’s Degree in Humanities.  Coach Camacho is celebrating 21 years of marriage to his wife Maria and together they have a beautiful daughter, Kelly.
